Freedom Fast 2023
We want Freedom Church to be a praying and fasting church, utilizing our God-given weapons to make an impact in our lives and in the lives of others. These powerful weapons are keys to living a life fully set apart for God. When we pray and fast for God’s will to be done, we will not change God, but God will change us.
- Are you ready to be changed by God?
- Are you ready to see God move?
- Are you ready for a more intimate relationship with God?
Why Pray?
Prayer:

- Deepens our dependence on God and sharpens our faith.
- Invites God into our situations and place our cares in God’s hands knowing that He will show up in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
- Creates intimacy with God. It draws closer to God, and He draws closer to us.
- Brings about change in any circumstance and more importantly in our hearts.
- Should be our first response, not our last resort.

Why Fast?
There’s an expectation that every follower of Christ would fast (Matt 16:16-18). When we
fast, we give up something physical to gain something spiritual.
Fasting:
Type of Fast:
We will participate in a progressive fast.
A Progressive Fast:
fast, we give up something physical to gain something spiritual.
Fasting:
- is not about what we give up or how long we fast, but it’s a matter of our hearts.
- humbles us before God and invites divine intervention into our world and our lives.
- makes room the Holy Spirit to answer prayers, guide us, change us, and heals our land.
- sharpens our focus, our attentiveness, and our spiritual sensitivity drawing us closer to God.
- is about sacrifice. Make your time of fasting a sacrifice unto God.
Type of Fast:
We will participate in a progressive fast.
A Progressive Fast:
- prepares us incrementally, mentally, and spiritually for a time of consecration.
- starts with refraining from something small (e.g. soda, candy, etc.) the first week, adding certain items the following week, then add additional items the following week.
- doesn’t drop or exchange our first items of fasting; it adds to it.
- saves those of us who tend to start too big, only to find that we can’t go the distance.
- lets us build up slowly.
Prayer Focus and Scriptures for Meditation:
Each week we will focus areas of prayer for ourselves, Freedom Church, and all people. We want to see these areas manifested in our lives, the lives of the people of Freedom Church, and the people in the world. The week’s prayer focus and Scriptures are located at the end of week’s posting.
