Wk 4 – “Having Faith Is Not Enough”

James wanted believers to know that believing there is a God is just a starting point. But having this kind of faith is not enough. There is something else that faith is supposed to produce and that’s works. Our works were indicators of the type of faith we possessed and the transformation that happened in our lives. He warns us that it’s possible to work for Jesus without walking with Jesus, so we must allow the Holy Spirit to test our works against the faith that we say has transformed us. If our works are the result of anything other than the faith that has changed us, then eventually it will become obvious to others. We don’t do good deeds for our salvation but as a result of our salvation.
