Wk 5 – “T.N.T. - Our “Tongues Need Taming”
Someone once said, “The tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to break a heart. So be careful with your words”. How true. Even James affirmed this truth in his letter some 2,000 years ago to Jewish believers. It’s time we all recognize the power of the tongue. In James’ letter, we learned that he was not so concerned with making everyone comfortable, but to ensure we live out our faith the right way; and this includes getting it right with our speech. You see, the enemy uses several tricks to provoke you into thinking and speaking negative words, including: blaming others, feeling self-pity through unfair treatment, self-righteousness, manipulating others, defending yourself and responding out of fear and anger. We all experience these feelings from time to time, but we can learn to master the taming of the tongue and reap eternal reward.
